What we offer
Teaching, research and production
The Institute puts its experience at the service of others. Some of this work is public and free, some is arranged for a fee, and some is a partnership. The list below describes the main kinds of work the Institute takes on.
Listen
Lectures
Talks on the history and culture of Italians, with a focus on the folk and regional cultures of the many parts of Italy from which people came.
Collect
Field research
Research in the community, carried out with the Institute's methods and added to its archive. The Italian Los Angeles guide is one product of this work.
Present
Exhibitions and concerts
Exhibits, symposia and concerts that bring regional Italian culture before a public audience.

For individuals, associations and institutions, the Institute also offers a range of commissioned work. Please call to discuss rates, since each project is different.
Custom oral history
Design and execution of an oral history for a family, an association or an institution, from planning and interviews to a finished record.
Larger research projects
Commissioned research that goes beyond a single interview, including fieldwork, documentation and a written report.
Consulting
Advice on special projects, courses and bibliography, drawing on the Institute's own collection and experience.
Event organisation
Organisation and production of exhibitions, symposia, concerts and other public programs, alone or with partners.
